About
-
The Current Paradigms in Cardiovascular Care of the Cancer Patient/Survivor is a biennial, CME-accredited national conference focused on the emerging and urgent intersection of cancer therapies and cardiovascular care. Organized by leading clinicians from Rush University Medical Center and partner institutions, the event brings together a diverse group of providers for an immersive educational experience.
Cancer treatments are evolving rapidly, and so are their cardiovascular implications. From chemotherapies and radiation to targeted therapies, immune checkpoint inhibitors, and CAR-T cell treatments, providers must be equipped to prevent, detect, and manage cancer therapy–related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD) across the care continuum.
-
Patients with cancer frequently receive care across fragmented systems—primary care providers may be unaware of long-term cardiotoxic effects from oncology treatment, and cardiologists may not be fully informed of patients’ cancer regimens. This growing cardio-oncology knowledge gap affects survivorship care and long-term outcomes.
To address this, the conference provides:
The latest evidence-based clinical updates
Hands-on insights into advanced cardiovascular imaging
Real-world cases and strategies for risk stratification
Opportunities to engage with national thought leaders in oncology, cardiology, pharmacy, and nursing
-
This conference is designed for:
Physicians: Cardiologists, oncologists, internists, and hospitalists
Advanced Practice Providers: Nurse practitioners and physician assistants
Pharmacists and Nurses
Medical trainees and fellows
Professionals interested in improving cancer survivorship and reducing treatment-related cardiac complications
-
A full-day, single-track program of didactic lectures, expert panels, and poster presentations
Ample networking opportunities with clinicians, researchers, and industry leaders
Up to 5.25 hours of CME/CE credit for physicians, nurses, and pharmacists
Hosted in the elegant Waldorf Astoria Chicago, offering a professional and focused setting for learning and collaboration
